Meals & Diet

Breakfast, lunch and a light supper each day will be provided in your hall of residence. All meals will be held in Noble Silence.

We will enjoy a vegan diet, free from meat, fish, eggs and dairy products. (Some children’s meals may contain eggs and dairy products, but children can also access the adult menu.) Gluten-free and wheat-free options will always be available (please let us know on the booking form).

We will be working with the chefs and catering staff to provide simple food in a way that assists people to take care of their own dietary needs as far as possible. Our guiding principles will be:

  • Simple dishes with not too many ingredients
  • A list of ingredients posted outside the dining rooms to help with meal choice
  • Separate ingredients as far as possible, so people can make their own selection
  • A choice of dishes, for example two main dishes at the midday meal and a salad option; fruit as an alternative to deserts
  • A member of the retreat team available in each hall with whom you can discuss any food-related issues that arise

We regret that we cannot guarantee a nut-free preparation or eating environment, although it will be possible to select nut-free meals.

We will try to accommodate all medical dietary needs. Please let the Enquiries Team know at least one month before the retreat what your needs are. In some cases it may be necessary for you to bring extra specialist dietary products to supplement the food provided.
